The Porcelain Thimbles

Enjoy the luxury of painless quilting with the
NEEDLEGLIDER, an under-the-quilt needle guide.
The convex surface actually makes the needle want to glide. As
you quilt, lift up on the quilt sandwich with
the rim. This creates a ridge in front of the needle point. As
the needle moves forward it glances off the glazed edge and resurfaces.
Move the NEEDLEGLIDER back in front of the needle
point and lift on the quilt again. Click here to see our
mini
movie about its usage. It will take approximately 3
minutes for it to download on a standard 56k dial-up connection.
Basically, you are rocking the quilt
surface rather than the needle, eliminating the
need for excessive rocking that can create carpal tunnel syndrome.
Because it is worn instead of held and because
the needle can penetrate the fabric from either side of the ridge,
all strain is eliminated from your hand, arm and shoulder regardless
of your quilting direction. It may be worn on any finger or even
the thumb. Its long shaft even gives room for your fingernails
and best of all - it will not bleed or get calluses!
An
angled NAIL THIMBLE, created for long fingernails, and a REGULAR
THIMBLE have been designed as lovely counterparts. Each holds
the needle very securely as both are unglazed on the dimpled top.
With the regular style you are pushing from the end and with the
nail style you are pushing more from the pad of your finger.
Each thimble style is available in six sizes.
To figure thimble size, press finger gently on a ruler.
Size XP is 5/8" wide and each larger size
is 1/16" wider with size XL being 15/16"
wide.
